Meet the Waka Campa Outrider — our newest and most spacious campervan, designed for travellers who want a little more room, comfort and freedom as they explore New Zealand.

Built on a brand-new 2026 LDV Deliver 9, the Outrider gives you the feeling of having your own compact home on wheels. With space for up to 3 adults, a comfortable rear double bed, a convertible single bed and plenty of storage, there’s room to settle in after a day of exploring.

And then there’s the feature that really sets the Outrider apart: you can shower inside with a hot water system! It's a portable gas hot-water unit that sits outside the van. Pass its shower head through the wet-room hatch for a hot shower inside, or use it as an outdoor shower. The integrated wet room with fixed flush toilet means you can enjoy extra privacy and convenience wherever the road takes you.

The fully equipped kitchen makes it easy to turn local produce into dinner, while solar power, an 80L fresh-water tank and a generous house battery give you greater freedom when you’re away from the crowds.

Planning to bring bikes, surfboards or extra luggage? The spacious rear garage has you covered.

And when the temperature drops, the diesel heater keeps the interior cosy, even when you’re travelling away from powered campsites.

With its automatic transmission, modern driving technology, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the Outrider is as comfortable on the road as it is at camp.

Road User Charges (RUC)

‍The Outrider is a diesel vehicle, so it is subject to New Zealand’s Road User Charges (RUC). RUC is a government road tax based on the distance a diesel vehicle travels, rather than a fee charged by Waka Campa.

Because of the Outrider’s vehicle weight, it falls into the 3,501–6,000 kg RUC category, which is currently at $82/1000km.

How RUC works with your booking

‍To make things simple, we prepay an estimated RUC amount when you book the Outrider. This estimate is based on the average distance our clients typically drive each day.

When you return the vehicle, we check the actual kilometres travelled against the amount of RUC that was prepaid:

• If you drove more than the estimated distance: we charge the additional RUC amount.
• If you drove less than the estimated distance: we refund the unused RUC amount.

This means you only pay for the RUC that applies to the actual distance you travel.

‍Please note: RUC rates are set by the New Zealand Government and may change from time to time. If the government changes the RUC rate, the applicable rate at the time of your rental will apply.

All Waka Campa customers receive 8 cents off per litre of fuel at Mobil Petrol stations.
