Meet the newest addition to the Waka Campa family — the Outrider, our latest campervan yet. Built for up to three adults, it brings together the freedom of van life with the comforts you’ll appreciate after a day exploring New Zealand.

Stretch out on the fixed rear double bed, cook up a meal in the fully equipped kitchen, freshen up in the indoor wet room and keep your adventures going with 80L of fresh water, solar power, and a diesel heater — perfect for heading off the beaten track or travelling in the cooler months.

And with a generous rear garage for bikes, surfboards and luggage, there’s room to bring more of what makes your adventure convenient.

This campervan fully complies with the latest Self-Containment requirements and certified Self-Contained under new 2025 regulations.

Equipment

• A kitchen with 2 burner gas hob, a sink, a fridge and everything you may need to cook your meals (pots, pans, cutlery, crockery, kettle,coffee plunger, etc.)
• A rear double bed 1.95 m x 1.40 m, plus a single bed 1.70 m x 0.80 m made from the dinette table. Pillows and bed linen are provided.
• Lots of cabinet storage space, plus a large garage under the bed that fits adult bikes and surfboards.
• Fixed flush toilet and an indoor cold shower with tray, drain and curtain. A solar shower is also supplied.
• Diesel heater, the only one in our fleet.

Tech and Electrical

• Solar panel mounted on the roof which charges the auxiliary battery.
• Rechargeable house battery (in addition to starter battery) running all camper equipment.
• Control panel for lights, fridge, water pump, stereo and the heater.
• Water level is checked at the push of a button, and battery charge is shown on the voltmeter.

Driving

It is a comfortable campervan to drive, with a reversing camera, lane assist and a large touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Automatic, rear-wheel drive, 2.0 L turbo diesel.

Being diesel, road user charges apply. You prepay them at booking based on your estimated distance, and we square it up against theodometer when you return.

All Waka Campa customers receive 8 cents off per litre of fuel at Mobil Petrol stations.
